We are now in our 7th week of Feed the Fight Kalamazoo and, having provided 4400+ meals, we mixed it up this week, focusing on sweets. This week has been all desserts, all week long, delivered to our frontline healthcare workers and first responders. To date, we have undertaken more than 120 distinct deliveries, from 62 individual restaurants.
The positive feedback from first responders and healthcare workers who receive those meals has been heartwarming. From Tara Cyrocki, at Residential Opportunities Incorporated, our newest partner: “We have a group of staff that tend to get overlooked when thinking of healthcare workers.” She went on to explain that they provide a multitude of support in difficult circumstances, especially now. “All of the staff we dropped meals off to were touched because they were being recognized by members of our community. We really appreciate it!”
But a different group–our donors–have likewise been thrilled to participate. Here are a few of their thoughts about Feed the Fight Kalamazoo:
“What a great idea! So important to recognize the work of our wonderful front-line workers AND to support the locally owned and operated restaurants so they can continue to be there for all of us.”
“What a great win-win for all involved. Thank you for letting us be a part of this great program by letting us help those on the front line!”
“Thank you for serving our community so well during this stressful time.”
“I have been watching for something local to contribute to helping health care workers AND restaurants we all love. Thank you for doing this.”
We’re grateful for our volunteers, our donors, our restaurant partners, and our Kalamazoo first responders and healthcare workers–when a community pulls together, amazing things become possible.
